DTI participates in Indonesia-Philippine Development forum, explores Islamic economy cooperation

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) took part in the opening ceremony of the Indonesia-Philippine Development Forum in Mindanao on September 23, 2024, hosted by the Indonesian Embassy in the Philippines.

The event, organized by Indonesian Ambassador Agus Widjojo and Consul General Agus Trenggono, aims to foster cooperation in the Islamic economy.

Focusing on key sectors like Islamic finance, the Halal industry, and Muslim-friendly tourism, the forum is expected to strengthen ties between Indonesia and the Philippines. Minister of Economy Mudzakir and DTI officials explored potential partnerships to enhance the Halal industry in Mindanao.

In addition to discussions, a business matching event for halal products in the food and beverage sector will facilitate further collaboration. The participation of Mindanao Development Authority Chairman Leo Tereso Magno highlights the importance of regional development in advancing these shared economic interests.
