Lanao Del Sur empowers farmers with halal promotion and advocacy training

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) in Lanao del Sur has launched a vital initiative to empower local farmers through its Community-Based Halal Promotion and Advocacy Awareness Program.

Held at the MAFAR Social Hall, the training aimed to educate farmers about the growing opportunities in the Halal market and equip them with the necessary knowledge to promote and advocate for Halal practices.

The event delivered key lectures on the concepts and principles of Halal, stressing the importance of education and awareness campaigns through social media and partnerships with educational institutions to broaden the understanding and adoption of Halal practices.

Dr. Jamel R. Cayamodin, Chairman of the MSU Special Committee on Halal, also contributed significantly by discussing strategies to enhance Halal awareness.

He highlighted the crucial role of Halal certification for businesses in the Philippines and how it could open new markets for locally produced goods, benefiting farmers and contributing to the region’s economic growth.

Farmers from selected cooperatives attended the event, exploring the potential of their locally produced goods in the expanding Halal market.

The training provided them with valuable insights into aligning their products with Halal standards, potentially increasing their market reach and profitability.
