The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) – Davao, in partnership with local government units and other stakeholders, is taking significant strides in promoting the Halal food industry in the Davao Region.
The NCMF Region XI recently organized the Provincial Consultative Forum on Halal Food Industry Development and Promotion Program for Davao del Sur.
Held in Digos City, the forum gathered 40 participants and was funded by the Provincial Government of Davao del Sur. Governor Yvonne R. Cagas, a staunch supporter of the Muslim community, ensured the province’s active involvement in this initiative.
The event, spearheaded by the NCMF Socio-Economic Division Chief, Ruby D. Sangid, with support from Digos Field Office Head, Ms. Jalina M. Dejos, RN, brought together various stakeholders to discuss the development of the Halal food industry in the region.
The NCMF XI, presented an in-depth rationale for the Davao del Sur Muslim Communities (DAVSUR MUSCOM) Development Halal Program. The presentation included an overview of the basic Halal concept and the mechanics of the forum’s activities.

The forum also featured Hon. Frashale Guerrero Jr., Municipal Mayor of Padada, Davao del Sur, who shared the Local Government Unit’s (LGU) Halal Development Programs, initiatives, ordinances, and other related concerns.
