UNIDO Explores Halal Opportunities in BARMM through Seafood Value Chain Collaboration

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) visited the Seaweed Research and Development Center (SeaRDeC) as part of the four-year Bangsamoro Agri-Enterprise Programme (BAEP), a European Union-funded initiative.

The visit aims to strengthen the seafood value chain in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) while supporting Halal certification and agribusiness development.

The program seeks to enhance economic opportunities in BARMM by developing sustainable and Halal-compliant seafood production. UNIDO’s collaboration with SeaRDeC highlights its commitment to fostering innovation and capacity-building in the region’s agribusiness sector.

The BAEP initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to promote inclusive growth and position BARMM as a key player in the global Halal market. Stakeholders look forward to advancing this partnership to achieve meaningful development in the region.
