HalalPreneur initiative launched at MSU-IIT to boost Halal entrepreneurship among young people

A new generation of entrepreneurs is stepping up to champion the growing halal industry with the launch of the HalalPreneur initiative at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT).

Representing the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Halal Industry Development Office, PM Aleem Siddiqui M. Guiapal was represented by Mr. Raison Dimaampao Arobinto during the launch. The initiative highlights the role of Gen Z entrepreneurs as changemakers in promoting halal business opportunities in the country.

The HalalPreneur Business Chamber is set to be established soon, marking a significant step in fostering collaboration among young entrepreneurs in the halal sector.

The project is a result of the 2024 US-PH Alumni Meet Small Grants Program, co-funded by the Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program. It is a collaborative effort between the USGAA Iligan and Lanao del Norte, Hubert H. Humphrey Alumni Philippines, DTI’s Halal Industry Development Office, and the Juniors of Entrepreneurship and Marketing Society of MSU-IIT.

“This platform provides the youth an opportunity to explore halal entrepreneurship and drive economic development while adhering to halal standards,” Arobinto said during the event.

With the launch of HalalPreneur, the organizers aim to inspire young business leaders to become advocates of halal-certified products and services, further strengthening the country’s position in the global halal market.
