BARMM Personnel Complete DOST Halal Lead Auditor Training, Enhancing Halal Certification Capacity

Personnel from the Bangsamoro Standards and Halal Testing Laboratories (BSHTL) of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) BARMM successfully completed the DOST Halal S&T Comprehensive Halal Lead Auditor Development Training Program from December 2-5, 2024, at Bajada Suites in Davao City.

The training, facilitated by DOST XI and conducted by the Malaysian Halal Consultancy and Training Agency (MHCT) and the International Halal Integrity Alliance (IHIA), was part of the DOST Lead Halal Auditor Training and Certification (LAHAT) Program.

The BSHTL team, including Rugaya H. Abdullah, Nahla Rasul, and Engr. Najma Abdulcarim, gained key competencies in Halal auditing, certification processes, and international Halal standards. They were awarded certifications as Halal Lead Auditors after successfully completing the program, which covered topics such as the MS 1500-2019 Malaysian Halal Standard, Islamic Shariah dietary laws, food safety in Halal certification, and the roles and responsibilities of Halal auditors.

This achievement strengthens BSHTL’s capacity to support the Halal industry in BARMM, aligning with the region’s goal to create a robust Halal ecosystem that facilitates local and international trade.
