Three representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in the Caraga region have achieved certification as Halal Lead Auditors after successfully completing the DOST Comprehensive Halal Lead Auditors Training Program.
The intensive three-day program, held from December 2 to 4, 2024, at Bajada Suites in Davao City, aimed to bolster DOST’s capacity by developing qualified Halal auditors. The training was part of the agency’s efforts to enhance its role in the growing Halal industry.
The newly certified Halal Lead Auditors are:
• Marie Kris P. Delarmente, Supervising Science Research Specialist
• Engr. Emman Lliam L. Prisco, Senior Science Research Specialist
• Rhea J. Santos, Science Research Specialist I
The certification was awarded by the International Halal Integrity Alliance based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The training program featured lectures and hands-on activities led by Prof. Dr. Hj. Rafek Saleh, Executive Director of the MHCT Agency, and Mr. Muhammad Haikal, Quality Assurance Manager and Lead Auditor. It was attended by representatives from all DOST regional offices.
This initiative reflects the increasing significance of the Halal industry in the Philippines and its potential to contribute to economic growth. By equipping its personnel with international certifications, DOST is positioning itself to support businesses in achieving Halal certification and accessing the global Halal market.
