The Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI) captivated audiences with its innovative contributions at the Halal Expo Philippines 2024, held from November 14 to 16 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
Themed “Shaping the Future of the Philippine Halal Industry Together,” the event highlighted DOST’s commitment to driving sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity within the Halal sector. Leading the DOST Pavilion Booth, DOST-PTRI showcased cutting-edge textile technologies tailored for the Halal market, earning the prestigious Best Pavilion Award 2024.
A key highlight of the Pavilion was the 12-look prêt-à-porter modest fashion collection Hilyah by Nurainie Ampatuan, a Moro designer from Maguindanao. The collection featured Philippine Tropical Fabrics developed by DOST-PTRI, blending sustainability with cultural heritage while adhering to Halal principles.
Visitors were also introduced to advanced sustainable textile technologies and industry-compliant innovations addressing the unique needs of the Halal market. These exhibits underscored DOST-PTRI’s dedication to supporting the growth of the Philippine Halal industry while promoting eco-friendly practices in the textile sector.
