DBM chief highlights economic potential at 7th National Halal Conference

Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman underscored the role of partnerships in advancing the Philippine Halal industry during the 7th National Halal Conference held on November 14, 2024, at the World Trade Center.

As the first Muslim Filipina Budget Secretary, Pangandaman emphasized the significance of creating a “thriving halal ecosystem” that goes beyond food to include various ethically produced goods and services.

“The Halal Expo aims to create a thriving Halal ecosystem, showcasing not just food, but a tapestry of products and services woven with ethical practices,” she said during her keynote address.

The conference, which gathered stakeholders from the Halal industry, highlighted the Philippines’ potential to become a significant player in the global Halal market. Pangandaman called on participants to harness opportunities and partnerships to achieve this vision.

Aleem Guiapal of the Department of Trade and Industry expressed his appreciation for Pangandaman’s efforts in supporting the Halal sector:

“Thank you, Department of Budget and Management Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman. We salute your efforts and support to accelerate economic growth in the country through the Halal sector. Muli, maraming maraming salamat po,” Guiapal said.

The event showcased various products and services, fostering discussions on inclusivity, sustainability, and the economic potential of the Halal industry in driving national development.
