Halal Expo Philippines 2024 to boost local industry

The highly anticipated Halal Expo Philippines 2024 is set to launch on Thursday, November 14, at the World Trade Center Manila.

This inaugural event marks a significant milestone for the Philippine halal industry, aiming to strengthen the nation’s halal market and foster international trade.

With strong support from government agencies, industry associations, and both local and international manufacturers, the expo is expected to play a key role in developing the halal sector in the region.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration is prioritizing halal industry growth, and the event has garnered the backing of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Tourism (DOT), National Commission for Filipino Muslims (NCMF), Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture (DA), and the Islamic Da’wah Council of the Philippines, Inc. (IDCP Halal).

Organizers anticipate more than 3,000 participants from across the globe, with exhibitors showcasing a wide range of halal products and services, including food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and more.

With over 16 million Filipino Muslims, the Philippines is positioning itself as a rising force in the global halal industry. Halal Expo Philippines 2024 aims to support local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), helping them scale production for both domestic and export markets.

This effort aligns with the DTI’s Halal-Friendly Philippines Campaign, which envisions the country as a leading halal hub in ASEAN by 2028.

“We are excited that such an event is being hosted in the Philippines for the first time. It is an important step towards realizing our vision of 2028 and promoting the Philippines as a halal-friendly hub in the ASEAN region,” said Aleem Guiapal, Halal Program Director at DTI.
