The Philippines is building on its participation in the recently concluded 2024 Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) to expand its halal businesses into global markets, particularly the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Maria Angela A. Ponce emphasized in an interview with Gulf Times the country’s efforts to strengthen halal industry collaboration with Malaysia under President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s administration.
“Malaysia is truly a showcase for the halal industry, and cooperation with Malaysia is a priority for both President Marcos and various agencies of the Philippine government,” Ponce said.
She stressed that the Philippines is learning from Malaysia’s best practices in halal development to boost its local industry and penetrate international markets.
