The Philippines is making waves in the global Halal market as it unveils its “Halal-Friendly PH” campaign at the 2024 Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS), held from September 17-20.
This campaign highlights the country’s increasing commitment to expanding its presence in the global Halal industry, promoting Filipino food and beverage products that adhere to Halal standards.
Among the exhibitors proudly representing the Philippines is Kangkong King, a business known for its unique and flavorful Halal-friendly food offerings. In a heartfelt message shared on social media, Kangkong King expressed gratitude for being part of the world’s biggest Halal trade event.
“We’re humbled to be part of the BIGGEST HALAL TRADE EVENT IN THE WORLD!!! Along with other Filipino Halal-friendly products, we’re excited to explore, learn, and represent our country with each of our unique food and beverages! Thank you so much for all your support and guidance for making this opportunity possible. DTI-EMB, IFEX Philippines, and CITEM!”
The Philippines’ participation in MIHAS, through the “Halal-Friendly PH” campaign, is spearheaded by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and supported by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM). It showcases the Philippines’ potential to become a key player in the global Halal market, spotlighting premium crops, food products, and wellness items that cater to international consumers.
Aleem Siddiqui Guiapal, DTI-Halal Industry Development Program Manager, emphasized the importance of a collaborative, customer-centric approach: “Having a comprehensive, collaborative whole-of-government approach, the biggest so far, we hope to stir investment opportunities while at the expo. Our strategy and the Philippine Halal roadmap focus on Halal integrity, investment promotion, industry development, and capacity building. The support from the Halal Export Board is a major boost to all our initiatives.”
With 20 Philippine exhibitors participating, including Kangkong King, the Philippine pavilion at MIHAS is expected to strengthen the country’s standing in the global Halal market, positioning the Philippines as a leading source of high-quality, Halal-certified products.
