The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has announced that the Philippines will showcase its burgeoning halal industry at various international expos.
Aleem Siddiqui Guiapal, DTI-Halal Industry Development Program Manager, revealed in a radio interview that the Philippines will participate in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (HIMAS) in September, followed by the Halal Expo in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi in October and November, respectively.
Guiapal emphasized that these expos will provide opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to access the global market.
“Talagang pausbong ang Halal sector ng Pilipinas,” he noted.
Last year, the Philippines achieved export sales of over PHP 50 million after participating in Gulfood 2023.
With 3,000 halal-certified products and services currently available, the Philippine Halal Industry Development Strategic Plan 2024-2028 aims to double this number to meet the growing demand for halal products both domestically and internationally.
