The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Halal Development Office commended the growing marketability of products in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as Halal-focused initiatives gained momentum during the holiday season.
Local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in BARMM have been encouraged to enhance their product development, particularly in improving packaging, to tap into wider markets.
E.S. Packaging Supplies Trading, a key advocate for innovative packaging solutions, urged businesses to collaborate with the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism (MTIT-BARMM) for assistance. MTIT-BARMM representatives Karl Gibran Ulangkaya and Sam M. Diocolano expressed their commitment to supporting MSMEs in achieving Halal certification and enhancing product appeal.
The initiative extends beyond BARMM, with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), led by Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman, facilitating connections with the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) to assist MSMEs in meeting Halal standards. Regional Director Akmad J. Usman played a pivotal role in fostering this collaboration, reinforcing efforts to strengthen the local Halal industry.
For MSMEs aiming to enhance their products’ marketability and explore opportunities in the Halal sector, stakeholders emphasized the importance of coordinated support from government agencies and private enterprises.
