Domestic Halal Industry Summit, 2024 Halal Champions Recognition Kicks Off in Taguig

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), in partnership with various government agencies and international stakeholders, officially kick off the ‘2024 Domestic Halal Industry Summit and Recognition of Halal Champions’ from December 19-22, 2024, at Vista Mall in Taguig, Metro Manila.

The event marks a significant step toward advancing the Philippines’ Halal industry and positioning the country as a leading player in the rapidly expanding global Halal market.

This summit is part of a broader initiative spearheaded by the DTI Special Task Force for Halal Industry Development, which aims to enhance the Philippines’ Halal ecosystem and open new opportunities for growth.

As the Halal market worldwide continues to experience unprecedented demand, the Philippines is taking bold steps to meet international standards and attract investments in Halal-compliant sectors.

The summit, which will engage more than 100 participants including MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), cooperatives, and Regional Operation Group (ROG) focal persons, aims to provide valuable insights on Halal certification, market trends, and strategies to boost the country’s presence in the global Halal market.

Sessions will feature expert speakers, mentorship opportunities, and workshops focused on compliance with Halal standards across various sectors such as food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and Islamic finance.

The DTI’s Halal Strategic Plan, which seeks to attract PHP 230 billion in investments and create 120,000 jobs over the next four years, will also be highlighted. The plan aims to develop a comprehensive Halal value chain, promote investment opportunities, and launch a national brand to position the Philippines as the fastest-growing Halal-friendly hub in Asia.

One of the most anticipated aspects of the summit will be the ‘Halal Champions Recognition’ ceremony, set to take place on December 4, 2024, to honor individuals, organizations, and businesses that have made significant contributions to the development and promotion of the Halal industry in the Philippines.

The recognition program will celebrate key players who have contributed to legislation, policy development, capacity building, and trade and investment initiatives that have helped stimulate the growth of Halal certification and industry development nationwide.
