The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos – National Capital Region (NCMF-NCR) recently participated in the year-end assessment and planning session organized by the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Halal Development and Trade Office (HDTO).
The event focused on discussing the legal framework of the Halal industry and the specific roles and mandates of the NCMF in relation to Halal standards and practices.
The program aimed not only to assess the achievements of the Halal HDTO in the past year but also to inform participants about the current status of the Halal industry in the Philippines.
It emphasized the importance of harmonizing the initiatives of various government agencies in line with the “whole of government” approach to Halal development.
Given the legal nature of the discussions, NCMF-NCR Regional Director Dimapuno A. Datu-Ramos Jr. appointed Atty. Jamael U. Batugan Jr., Acting Chief of the NCMF Legal Affairs Division, to represent the agency and deliver the presentation. Atty. Batugan’s insights contributed to the forum’s understanding of the regulatory environment and the NCMF’s role in shaping Halal standards across the country.
The collaborative event marked a significant step toward further aligning the efforts of key stakeholders in the Halal industry, with the goal of enhancing the sector’s development and ensuring its growth within the framework of national regulations.
