The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office NCR participated in the National Convention of Project LAWA and BINHI at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on Monday, Dec.2.
The event, attended by various government agencies, local officials, and international partners such as the United Nations World Food Program (UN WFP), focused on disaster preparedness and response strategies.
A key highlight was the launch of the Ready-to-Eat Food (RTEF) packs, designed as an immediate aid for disaster survivors. These self-contained, Halal-certified meals are individually packed and require no cooking, offering a quick and practical solution for affected families.
The convention also spotlighted the LAWA and BINHI programs, which aim to enhance water access, food security, and disaster resilience, particularly for vulnerable communities. These initiatives align with the National Climate Change Action Plan 2022-2028, which focuses on water sufficiency, food security, and capacity-building for climate adaptation.
Through these efforts, DSWD continues to prioritize disaster preparedness, food assistance, and support for sustainable development in the Philippines.
