PH Ulama Congress backs DTI Halal Industry Office Chief for ‘global vision’

The Philippine Ulama Congress has thrown its full support behind for Aleem Guiapal, lauding his transformative leadership at the helm of the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Halal Industry Development Office.

In a statement, the council commended Guiapal’s unwavering dedication to advancing the halal industry, highlighting his efforts as a pivotal step toward positioning the Philippines in the $7.7 trillion global halal market.

“PM Aleem Guiapal’s vision and strategic initiatives are empowering the Muslim Filipino community economically while fostering inclusivity and cultural harmony. His leadership exemplifies how the halal industry can be a powerful driver of national growth,” the council said.

Under Guiapal’s leadership, the Halal Industry Development Office has spearheaded efforts to establish halal-friendly urban centers and unlock opportunities for ASEAN growth and sustainable development. These initiatives align with the Philippine Halal Roadmap, a comprehensive strategy to elevate the country’s competitiveness in the international halal sector.

The council also called on DTI Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque and other government agencies to extend robust support to Guiapal and his team. They emphasized that sustained government backing is crucial to unlocking the full potential of the halal industry, which benefits not just the Muslim Filipino community but the nation as a whole.

“PM Guiapal’s tireless work lays a strong foundation for the Philippines to emerge as a global model of cultural diversity, economic innovation, and international collaboration. This is an opportunity we must seize together,” the council urged.

The halal industry in the Philippines is gaining recognition as a vital economic pillar, with the potential to create jobs, boost exports, and contribute significantly to sustainable development. Guiapal’s efforts signal a brighter future for an inclusive and dynamic sector that bridges cultural and economic divides.

As the Philippines strengthens its foothold in the halal market, the collective call for collaboration echoes a shared aspiration: to transform the country into a hub of excellence in the global halal economy.
