The Philippine Embassy and a high-level Halal delegation met with the Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade in Riyadh on October 30, 2024, to advance trade relations and boost the Philippines’ presence in the global halal market.
The delegation, which included officials from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Department of Budget and Management, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, focused on collaborative strategies to increase halal-certified Filipino exports to Saudi Arabia.
During the meeting, both parties discussed initiatives aimed at enhancing the availability of Philippine halal products in the Saudi market and fostering partnerships to support the growth of the halal industry.
Philippine officials highlighted the importance of aligning with Saudi Arabia’s established halal standards to tap into the expanding global halal market.
This collaboration represents a significant step in strengthening Philippine-Saudi trade relations, reflecting both countries’ commitment to cultural and economic exchange. Officials expressed optimism that the partnership will lead to new opportunities for Filipino enterprises and promote the quality of halal-certified products from the Philippines.
