NCMF, DTI team up with AIM to develop Halal Industry Executive Course

The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and the Department of Trade and Industry-Philippine Trade Training Center (DTI-PTTC) have partnered with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) to develop an executive course aimed at strengthening the halal industry in the Philippines. The course will also focus on Islamic banking and finance.

A meeting was held on October 10, 2024, at the AIM Conference Room in Makati City, where NCMF Executive Director Tahir S. Lidasan, Jr., CESO II, and other key officials from the NCMF and DTI-PTTC discussed this collaboration with AIM administrators. The course aims to increase awareness of the halal industry, combining the expertise of the NCMF and DTI with AIM’s background in business education. It will equip future business leaders with a deeper understanding of the halal industry and Islamic finance, promoting a more inclusive and sustainable business environment in the Philippines.

During the meeting, the NCMF Halal Primer and Halal Module were ceremonially handed over to the AIM Knowledge Resource Center. These materials are expected to serve as valuable resources in shaping the course.

Representing AIM were Professor Felipe Calderon, head of the Washington SyCip Graduate School of Business, and Professor Olivier P. Roche, PhD, head of the Stephen Zuellig Graduate School of Development Management.

This partnership signifies a significant step forward in promoting halal industry growth and development, ensuring that both Muslim and non-Muslim Filipinos benefit from this sector’s potential to enhance economic inclusivity.
