DTI to promote Halal Friendly PH in upcoming international exhibitions

The Department of Trade and Indyustry plans to continue its focus on MSMEs by participating in upcoming exhibitions in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.

In an interview with PTV, DTI Halal Industry Development Office Director Aleem Guiapal highlighted that being halal-certified and export-ready is key for Filipino businesses seeking to enter the international market.

As the Philippines continues to strengthen its position in the global halal industry, Guiapal believes the country’s participation in MIHAS and similar events will encourage more Filipino entrepreneurs to embrace halal certification and contribute to the growing sector.

“Our goal is not only to increase sales but also to enhance employment opportunities and income generation for our local businesses,” Guiapal concluded.

The country is stepping up its efforts to become a more inclusive destination for Muslim tourists and investors through the promotion of halal-friendly products and services.

Guiapal highlighted President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s 2024 State of the Nation Address, which emphasized the need for the country to be ready for Muslim tourists.

“We want the Philippines to be a welcoming destination for tourists, and that includes preparing halal-certified hotels and food options. This is part of the experiential tourism strategy, which aims to improve our economy by attracting more tourists,” Guiapal explained.
