The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region XI, in partnership with IDEAS Davao and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), highlighted Halal and grassroots innovations during Davao Startup Week 2024.
The event featured Halal cosmetics developed by DOST-ITDI and the Halal Transparent Traceability System (HATTS), a collaborative project with USEP, MS3, and UTP Malaysia.
Local innovations from the Bagobo Tagabawa Tribe were also showcased.
A seminar on Halal Concepts and Principles was conducted, introducing participants to the GRIND Program, which aims to scale grassroots innovations for broader markets.
DOST Assistant Regional Director Mayan Inni underscored the role of local communities in driving innovation, reaffirming DOST’s commitment to supporting grassroots initiatives and Halal projects.
