Indonesia supports PH in developing Halal Industry

The Embassy and Consulate General of Indonesia hosted the Indonesia-Philippines Development Forum in Davao City to celebrate 75 years of bilateral relations. The forum focused on strengthening ties in Islamic finance and the halal industry, with participants from government, academia, and business sectors from both countries.

Indonesian Ambassador Agus Widjojo highlighted the shared Islamic traditions between Indonesia and Mindanao, emphasizing the potential for economic collaboration. He expressed Indonesia’s readiness to share its experiences in developing an Islamic economy. Consul General Agus Trenggono added that Indonesia is eager to work together with the Philippines to foster inclusive growth through the Islamic economy.

The forum included discussions on Islamic finance and the halal industry, featuring experts from both countries. Panelists underscored the importance of building a robust Islamic economy and halal industry ecosystem, benefiting both Muslims and non-Muslims.

The event concluded with a virtual business matching session, where Indonesian companies promoted halal products and explored potential partnerships with Mindanao businesses.
