LuLu Hypermarket sourcing $20M in Halal Products from the Philippines

LuLu Hypermarket is actively sourcing halal products from the “Halal-Friendly Philippines,” with annual sales totaling $20 million, a significant boost to the local halal industry.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) delegation recently met with key LuLu officials, including Asif Ahamed, Director of LuLu Hypermarket (Kuala Lumpur), and Philippine Country General Manager Rajat Agarwal, during their visit to Malaysia.

The DTI Halal Program, led by Program Manager Aleem Siddiqui M. Guiapal, has been working closely with LuLu to explore more opportunities for Filipino halal producers and MSMEs to expand internationally.

During their discussions, Rajmal Rafeeque, Country Manager for LuLu’s Philippines operations, expressed strong support for the DTI’s initiative.

“LuLu is committed to providing a platform for Filipino halal products across its 270 branches worldwide, including in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia, and India,” Rafeeque said.

Guiapal emphasized the importance of these collaborations in promoting the quality and diversity of Filipino halal products on a global scale.

“Partnerships like this are key to showcasing the excellence of our local products and giving them the exposure they deserve in international markets,” he stated.

The growing partnership aligns with DTI’s broader mission to empower local halal producers and MSMEs, facilitating their access to global markets and contributing to the overall growth of the Philippine halal industry.
