The Philippines is intensifying its efforts to establish itself as a key player in the global Halal market with the launch of its “Halal-Friendly PH” campaign at the 2024 Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) on Sept. 17-20.
This initiative is designed to spotlight the country’s expanding Halal industry and its dedication to meeting the diverse needs of Halal consumers and businesses worldwide.
The “Halal-Friendly PH” campaign underscores the Philippines’ capacity to deliver top-tier Halal products, focusing on food and beverages, ingredients, and wellness items.
20 Philippine exhibitors are showcasing a wide array of premium crops and local food products, catering to the tastes and requirements of the Asia Pacific region and beyond.
The Philippine pavilion is located at Hall 6F from booth 01-08 of the event.
“Having a comprehensive customer-centric collaborative whole of government approach. The biggest so far. We hope to stir investment opportunities while at the expo. As the strategy and phil halal roadmap addresses halal integrity, investment promotion, industry development and capacity building. The support especially of the halal export board is a boost to all our initiatives,” said Aleem Siddiqui Guiapal, DTI-Halal Industry Development Program Manager.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Halal Industry Development Program Management Office (HID-PMO) and the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), is spearheading the promotion of the country’s Halal sector.
The campaign is a collaborative effort led by the Halal Board, chaired by the DTI, with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) serving as vice chair. The Board also includes the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of Tourism (DOT), Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), and the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), along with two private sector representatives.
“Halal-Friendly PH” aims not only to enhance the export potential of Filipino manufacturers and MSMEs but also aligns with DTI’s broader objectives of attracting investments and expanding the Philippines’ influence in the global Halal supply chain.
CITEM, as the export promotion arm of DTI, plays a crucial role in positioning the Philippines as a leading destination for high-quality export products.
Through this campaign, the country is set to bolster its presence in the international market, offering Halal-compliant products that cater to a diverse and growing consumer base.
