The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) are stepping up efforts to empower Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) by transforming them into self-reliant, Halal-certified micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives.
In a recent meeting hosted by DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III and Undersecretary Amie Julsadjiri Sangcopan, representatives from the DTI Halal Industry Development Office and DTI Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) came together to discuss strategies to enhance the support for ARBs in their journey toward Halal certification.
Estrella highlighted the significance of this collaboration, emphasizing the role of Halal certification in opening new markets and opportunities for ARBs.
DTI Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque also expressed her support, underscoring the importance of building a Halal-friendly Philippines.
As a result of this initiative, 104 products from 52 ARBs are now ready for Halal certification, marking a significant milestone in the country’s Halal industry development.
This initiative not only aims to elevate the status of ARBs but also contributes to the broader goal of making the Philippines a leading Halal-friendly destination.
