Lanao Del Norte 1st District Representative Mohamad Khalid Quibranza Dimaporo has thrown his full support behind the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Halal Industry Development Office as it advances programs aimed at enhancing the country’s Halal sector.
Dimaporo expressed his support to the development of the Philippine Halal Industry Development Strategic Plan 2023-2028, which seeks to increase the accessibility of Halal products and services in the domestic market and across regions.
DTI Halal Industry Development Office Program Director Aleem Guiapal also highlighted key achievements of the PH halal initiative, including the selection of two local products from Iligan and Lanao del Norte for the prestigious Gulfood 2024 event.
In a major boost to local businesses, the first quarter of 2024 alone generated PHP 32 million in sales from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that participated in DTI’s Halal Expo.
The DTI and Dimaporo emphasized the importance of continued collaboration with Lanao del Norte and other provinces, ensuring that the Halal sector becomes a key driver of economic growth for local communities.
