The Philippine government is ramping up efforts to expand the development of Halal products and services across the country, with a strong focus on supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
This initiative aims to grow the current 3,000 Halal products and services available, providing more opportunities for businesses and improving the Philippines’ standing in the global Halal market.
DTI Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque has previouly expressed support to the development of Philippine Halal industry and the role of the the local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in empowering the econom.
Roque also highlighted the importance of collaboration with stakeholders to achieve sustainable economic growth and inclusive development.
In an interview with Radyo Pilipinas, Salaam Radio, , DTI Program Manager Aleem Siddiqui Guiapal laid down the key strategies in the expansion of the Halal industry: investment promotion, industry development, Halal integrity, and capacity development.
“These pillars are designed to ensure the integrity of Halal-certified products and services while also driving investment and economic growth,” said Guiapal.
“We are committed to expanding these pillars, especially in investment promotion and industry development. The goal is to strengthen the integrity of our Halal products while boosting the capabilities of the sector,” he added.
