Over twenty farmers from Cotabato City in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) underwent Halal Philippine National Standard (PNS) training.
The training aimed to promote the certification of Halal agri-fishery products in the region and was held at Cren Cuisine, Gov. Gutierrez Avenue, Cotabato City, on July 25.
The event empowered farmers about the national standards on halal certification of agrii-fishery products.
This initiative ensures that consumers can trust that Halal products are safe and reliable, while also guaranteeing the health and safety of consumers.
The organizers expressed confidence that the activity would help participants understand the true meaning of Halal. He said,
“This activity will help ensure that what we eat, together with our families and the entire Bangsamoro, is truly 100% Halal,” said Assistant to the Provincial Director for SGA and Cotabato City Disumimba Rasheeda.
He also assured that all programs provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) would be implemented and delivered to farmers and fishers.
The training covered topics such as the basic concepts and principles of Halal, the Halal Food Industry Development Program, The Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines, Halal Certification Protocol, Halal Slaughtering Practices for Ruminants and Poultry, and Halal Agriculture, Fisheries Products.
